Tia Curtis is an internationally acclaimed quilter, teacher, and pattern designer with a passion for sharing her love of sewing. An award-winning artist, her work has been featured in numerous publications, and she has collaborated with fabric manufacturers, designers, authors, and magazines as a freelance quilt maker and designer.
Tia’s teaching is rooted in her distinctive quilting style, which blends modern design with influences from Welsh and American Traditional techniques. She incorporates improv piecing, appliqué, and patchwork to help students explore both structure and creative freedom in their work.
Known for her relaxed, approachable teaching style, Tia creates an encouraging environment where students of all skill levels feel comfortable experimenting and growing. She believes that quilting should be both expressive and enjoyable, and she shares practical techniques, tips, and creative insights that make learning accessible
and fun.
Whether introducing foundational skills or guiding more advanced exploration, Tia empowers students to develop their own voice through color, texture, and design.
Based in Kansas, Tia spends her days quilting and teaching, always with several projects in progress—and plenty of ideas to share.
