Lover’s Knot Wedding Quilt
I was so honored to quilt this “Lover’s Knot” top beautifully pieced by my friend Debbie. This king size top was to be a wedding gift for Debbie’s son and daughter in law. When we discussed custom quilting for this top, Debbie only asked that the quilting be more “neutral”… feathers? .. maybe not so much…otherwise it was “carte blanche”. Several different quilting options were drawn, a design decision was reached and it was time to quilt. The top however had different ideas… when I put my needle down and started stitching… one of my original design ideas started to take shape… by the time I realized this was not my final design but rather one of the first “drawings” it was too late to turn back… It was sew wonderful to see these beautiful elements unfold… how the stitching in the blue and pink started to shine like little diamonds to represent love shining brightly, the string of circles for the circle of life and the star shape in the white centre for the true north star that always guides you home… well… I was practically in tears and knew both Debbie and I would be when the quilt and its story were revealed. Don’t you just love when everything turns out like it’s supposed to!
Quilted free hand with ruler work using Superior So Fine thread and Hobbs Wool batting.
